Privacy Policy
TingEase is a relaxation tool for people living with tinnitus. It is not a medical device, and it does not diagnose or treat anything.
The app is built to work entirely on your device. This page describes exactly what leaves it, and what never does.
What we collect
An anonymous ID. Created on your device the first time you open the app. It is not your Apple ID, not your advertising identifier, and it is not connected to your name or email.
Your frequency match result. The frequency in Hz and which matching method produced it, so it can be restored if you reinstall.
Anonymous usage events. Which built-in sound you played, whether you set a sleep timer, whether the notch was on, which article you opened. These are counts of actions — never notes, recordings, or anything you typed.
Feedback you choose to send. If you use Me → Share feedback & ideas, we receive the text you wrote, your app and iOS version, and — only if you fill it in — a contact address. Feedback is stored without your anonymous ID.
What we never collect
- Your name, email address, or phone number — unless you choose to leave a contact address when sending feedback
- Your location
- Contacts, photos, calendar, or Health data
- Audio from your microphone. TingEase only plays sound. It never records.
- Your advertising identifier (IDFA). There is no advertising in this app.
- Anything through third-party analytics or advertising SDKs — the app contains none
What stays only on your device
- Whether you accepted the health disclaimer
- Which articles you have read
- Your sound choices and volume levels
- Your account token, held in the iOS Keychain
Where it goes
The little that does leave your device goes to our own servers in the United States, over an encrypted HTTPS connection. We do not sell it, rent it, or hand it to advertisers, and we do not use it to build a profile of you.
How long we keep it
Your match result and usage events are kept while your anonymous account exists. Delete the account and they go with it.
Feedback you send is kept to guide product decisions. Because it is stored without your anonymous ID, deleting your account does not remove it — email us if you would like a message removed.
Deleting your data
Open Me → Delete my data in the app. That removes your anonymous account and everything attached to it from our servers, and erases your match result, reading progress and sound preferences on this device. It cannot be undone.
Opening the app again afterwards creates a brand-new anonymous ID with no link to the old one. Deleting the app removes everything else stored locally, including your acceptance of the health disclaimer.
Children
TingEase is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them.
Changes
If this policy changes in a way that affects what we collect, we will update this page and the version inside the app before the change takes effect.
